About The Role

Join a multi-year Defence program to deliver an enterprise Health Knowledge Management System. This capability will enable better clinical decision making for the ADF.

Based in either Canberra or Melbourne, this role will primarily be responsible for the negotiation of subcontracts across a major and high profile Defence project, leading new and existing subcontract agreements with key suppliers as well as modifications / change proposals as required. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Subcontract negotiations, including ensuring the flow down of appropriate and proportionate terms from the Prime contract
  • Managing supplier arrangements of various types and complexity
  • Identifying and resolving moderate commercial matters on assigned subcontracts, and escalating where required
  • Analysing risks and identifying/implementing appropriate mitigation strategies 
  • Raising changes to subcontracts, where necessary, based on agreed changes to the Prime contract
  • Educating subcontract providers on how to engage on defence contracts. 

Qualifications

About you

You bring significant experience in managing subcontract or ‘buy-side’ arrangements within a defence context, coupled with a Bachelor’s degree in commerce, law, business or related discipline. You also have experience negotiating terms and conditions with suppliers.

Valued experience includes: 

  • Successful track record of developing, mobilising and managing a variety of subcontract types and complexity in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Familiarity with Australian Federal Government contracting methodologies.
  • Prior experience in Defence and/or Health Industries is highly desirable.

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and to be able to hold and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
