Job Description

This role will see you embedded within the customers team, with you acting as the Subject Matter Expert in the test environment. You  provide on the job training for members of the Network Design cell including such activities as network development process coaching, coaching of junior Network Designers in Network Design cell and personal tasking, mentoring of staff for stakeholder engagement activities, and incorporation of existing knowledge and lessons learned into documented Commonwealth procedures;

  • Conduct continuation training for members of the Network Design team on the technology specialties for which they are assigned (up to five one hour session in 12 months);
  • Support the CASG training schedule utilising skill and experience gained in Link 16 Network Design and network support;
  • Undertake Operational and Exercise Network Design planning activities to support the ADF Joint Interface Control Officer (JICO)
  • Conduct all feasible actions to determine Operational, Exercise and Test Link-16 Network Design activity requirements ( i.e. existing network identification, creation of a new network design, or modification to an existing network);
  • Create, test, validate, and/or refine Link-16 Network Designs;
  • Distribute and promote completed Network Design Loads (NDLs) and Network Description Documents (NDDs) detailing the network’s capabilities and limitations;
  • Configuration manage and maintain current ADF baseline platform files IAW the system’s ICD this includes
    • Attain / maintain technical currency on relevant Link 16 and support equipment;
    • Assist the ADF and its platform operators with troubleshooting and operational support where required;
    • Provide operational considerations and advice to the ADF Joint Interface Control Officer (JICO) and participating Service Interface Units (IUs);
    • Provide input into supported Operational, Exercise and Routine Post Activity Reviews and LINKREPS;
    • Provide advice, guidance and support to ADF projects acquiring or seeking to acquire tactical data links;
    • Provide advice, guidance and support to JCG, CASG and other Commonwealth agencies where link 16 advice and expertise is required.

Qualifications

Your experience will come from defence  in a similar role. You will be an excellent communicator that engages with stakeholders at various levels and is seen a SME in your field. You will be happy to work in a team and lead a team during testing phases but also happy to be autonomous. 

Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Science or Systems Engineering discipline, or equivalent ADF or industry experience.

  • Successfully completed the ADF Multi Tactical Data Link Planning course (Course ID AT-201)
  • Previous experience in
    • Link 16 Network Design.
    • A high level understanding of Link 16
