Job Description

We have an opportunity for a Laundry Personnel to join a newly built team.

In this new role, you will be providing support to the training of Defence personnel in Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defence (CBRND). You will have one other FSR to assist you in the planning, issuing, receiving, laundering, drying and possibly light ironing of uniforms designed to protect Defence personnel in hazardous environments.

Duties include:

  • Ensuring Medium Protective Equipment (MPE) uniforms and associated equipment are ready for issue in accordance with the training schedule.
  • Soiled MPE and associated equipment (masks, boots, gloves etc) are washed and dried according to a specified process.  Operates washers and dryers in accordance with safety standards. A modern high tech laundry is provided to enable washing and drying
  • MPE and associated equipment has a non-technical inspection to confirm serviceability. Items deemed unserviceable (U/S) are set aside for disposal.
  • Providing minor seams repairs to MPE uniforms, eg, replace buttons, velcro, mend torn clothes and linens
  • Sizing and issue MPE uniforms and associated equipment to Defence Force personnel
  • Completing RODUMS and submit to MSF at Prestons, after verbal advice to confirm need for a RODUM
  • MPE stock levels are monitored between Max and Min levels to ensure there is always sufficient stock to support training rate of effort (ROE)
  • Advising MSF when stock levels are approaching minimum quantities
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment on site.  Maintains laundry room and equipment in a clean and orderly manner
  • Enforcing Base/site environmental health and safety (EHS) policies and procedures
  • Complying with local Base regulations and directions
  • Performing related work as required

Qualifications

We are seeking someone who will have:

  • Some knowledge of standard laundry equipment methods and equipment
  • Some knowledge of the use and care of standard commercial washing machine equipment
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to operate or readily learn to operate washers and extractors
  • Skill in the operation of laundry equipment
