Job Description

Due to internal progression, we have an opportunity available for a Business Development Manager to join our team. This role will see you take on and lead a well-established Federal Government account. As Business Development Manager, your role will sit on the account leadership team and work closely with the Account Executive and your peers including Chief Technology Officer, Deputy Account Executive and Service Delivery Managers to lead and shape the future of the account, in line with the customers technology strategy. The role will involve supporting the Account Executive by providing strategic management to maintain a strong understanding of the broader technology landscape and the customer’s perspectives and goals.

As Business Development Manager, your key responsibilities include:

  • Network internally and with customers, competitors, and potential teammates;
  • Lead the Program Pre-Sales team to ensure they are addressing customer hot buttons and are aware of changes that impact the win strategy or program understanding;
  • Support account-level proposal activities
  • Understand the customer budget and associated appropriations, acquisition schedule, and internal program drivers;
  • Leverage customer relationships to promote Leidos capabilities and proactively shape the opportunity;
  • Engage with decision makers and influencers to understand and document issues, concerns, and hot buttons; and
  • Lead meaningful discussions and engagements within Leidos that highlight essential account-level decision criteria and considerations.
  • Ability to identify, shape and close on new business initiatives and on contract growth 
  • Provide customer advocacy within the account.

Qualifications

About you

This role requires strong ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels of the business and externally. You will need to be comfortable in an unstructured and at times, ambiguous environment. Key to this role is your ability to listen to customer needs, synthesise information from a range of sources and respond to that information accordingly. You are confident providing procedural advice and direction to cross functional teams who deliver business development outcomes for the account and Leidos, such as CTOs, Engineers, PMs etc and you excel in gaining buy-in. 

  • Confident communicator; both orally and in written form and to individuals as well as large groups
  • Proven ability to create and maintaining both internal and external professional networks
  • Skilled in managing and assimilating information, for a varied audience in many different formats

You must be have the ability to learn, collaborate and network with senior stakeholders and enjoy engaging with people.  

Due to the nature of the work, a security clearance at minimum NV1 is required.
