Job Description

JP2030 as an evolutionary project has delivered a cohesive and integrated Joint Command Support Environment (JCSE) for the efficient and effective planning and conduct of Australian Defence Force operations for Headquarters Joint Operations Command ( HQJOC) 

The products are presented through a SharePoint portal which provides a consistent and familiar user experience. The project team performs various support functions including Business analysis, help desk support and Engineering support to address emerging user needs.

We are looking for a Systems Integration/Test Engineer that will work in a close knit team.

The test engineer’s main aim is working with the software engineers and focus on helping design, develop and implement testing methods and equipment.  This would mean providing the test area with parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed.

Under the direction of a designated supervisor, perform the following functions as individual assignments or as part of a team:

  • develop and document test plans and strategies,
  • design, maintain and enhance a variety of specialized test procedures,
  • produce documented trace-ability between development requirements and test cases,
  • preparing and conducting test readiness reviews - environment and data preparation, documents and meetings
  • executing test procedures - including formal Functional testing and SAT testing with Commonwealth representatives witnessing
  • creating and manage test defects with development teams and business representatives,
  • produce development test reports post completion of test exercises

Qualifications

About you and what you will bring.

You will be a customer oriented test engineer with the ability to support the teams even with competing priorities.

You will be a strong communicator with a drive to see the software solution work and ensure the client is happy. 

Strong problem solving skills and the ability to think “outside the box” when coming up with innovative ways to test and demonstrate the quality of the solution.

Coupled with your education and practical experience, you will demonstrate a pro-active approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues and develop relationships to achieve the company’s objectives. 

You will also have:

  • Experience Identifying test data and conditions required for test execution
  • Experience using software tools for application development and testing (HP Application Lifecycle Management preferred)
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) – working with multiple teams and stakeholders
  • Able to work under pressure of tight deadlines and evolving requirements
  • Previous software test experience is essential - a minimum of 3 years testing experience

Desirable

  • Previous experience with SharePoint applications and administration,
  • Previous experience with test automation creation, maintenance and execution
  • Experience with different browsers and versions, Microsoft Office products and Operating systems
  • Previous experience with ThoughtWeb - this can be removed as product is no longer used

Additional Information

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and to be able to  hold an NV1 Security clearance and able to obtain an uplift to the NV2 level.
