Job Description

Your new role

The Solution Architect is required to become a trusted advisor to the Australia Taxation Office (ATO) and responsible for consulting on new and/or existing technology solutions to meet ATO customer requirements within the End User Technology Support (EUTS) and Enterprise Services Management Centre (ESMC) accounts.

As a Solution Architect you shall engage the ATO to elicit requirements, architect compelling and value add solutions and lead the solution designs for subsequent execution and delivery. The Solution Architect shall be required to build strong relationships and work closely with the ATO’s Architecture team and Leidos' Engineering and Security teams.

You'll be part of a supportive, close-knit Architecture team and be supported by and work collaboratively with peers in Proposal Development, Project Management, Engineering, Security and other disciplines. 

In a typical day, you will: 

  • Derive, review, interpret and respond to customer requirements to ensure alignment between customer expectations and current and future EUTS and ESMC technologies
  • Lead the basis of estimates (BOE) and bill of materials (BOM) for proposals
  • Support project managers to identify, analyse and mitigate project risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies
  • Design and define solution architectures and produce High Level Designs (HLDs) and Detailed Level Designs (DLDs) for new or existing systems
  • Lead requirements gathering, technical design and other system-related workshops
  • Co-ordinate and manage design compliance and governance activities with projects to ensure successful business outcomes
  • Develop and maintain models of current and future architectures within defined solutions
  • Present business cases for IT solutions, considering cost, infrastructure, licenses, development and support
  • Engage with a range of technology vendors, conduct technical assessments and provide recommendations and advice to the ATO.

Qualifications

About you and what you'll bring

You are a seasoned Solution Architect, ideally with experience in a Government or Defence environment. You have demonstrated experience authoring and delivering ICT solution proposals, business cases and/or supporting bids for internal and external stakeholders. 

You are experienced at leading technical professionals in workshops to drive design decisions, common understanding and presenting solutions and business cases to various audiences from technical to executive level.

You have a breadth and depth of knowledge with a range of technologies, preferably including End User Computing, Mobile Device Management, Microsoft Domains and Management Tools, hosting COTS and in-house developed applications, Virtualisation and infrastructure platforms. 

Experience or subject matter expertise with any of the following technologies/concepts would be highly desirable; Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Services Governance, Office 365, ServiceNow and/or Desktop as a Service. 

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen, undergo an Australian Police Check and hold a baseline or NV1 security clearance.
