Job Description

Leidos Australia is the largest commercial supplier of intelligence services to the Australian Government and provides a number of critical systems integration projects to the Department of Defence. We also deliver service management, including service desk, for the Australian Tax Office, supporting 25,000 ATO end users.

Your new role

Leidos Australia is looking for a Software Engineer to join our talented team based in Canberra. You'll work closely with the customer to develop programs utilising a range of frameworks and languages, to deliver and enhance mission critical systems.

Activities in your role may include:

  • Eliciting, understanding, and designing against both business and technical requirements,
  • Software design and development/prototyping and investigations,
  • Utilising Agile development tools,
  • Software coding and unit testing,
  • Software documentation,
  • User interface design and development

Qualifications

About You

 This is a great opportunity for an emerging software engineer! You have experience, or are familiar object-oriented programming, in particular Java, and are familiar with web development (ie Javascript, React, Angular). Experience deploying software in Docker, Cloud or other virtualised platforms is an advantage.

You also have:

  • A degree in software engineering, computer science, maths or related field with solid grades
  • Good problem solving skills
  • A desire to learn new technologies, techniques and skills
  • Demonstrated ability to produce consistently good results in a complex environment
  • Ability to work successfully in teams, autonomously or with minimal supervision, and deliver completed work on schedule
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to document and improve software development processes

Additional Information

Due to the nature of the work this role will require applicants to be Australian Citizens with the ability to obtain an NV-1 clearance.
