Our IT Projects and Intelligence business deliver bespoke to integrated off-the shelf software applications, along with large scale data centre infrastructure capability to deliver solutions for a range of missions in the Defence, other government agencies and commercial organisations

Your new role

Our IT Projects and Intelligence business has an opportunity for a Systems Engineer. Working on our Federal Government customer programs, your role is responsible for performing complex systems engineering assignments requiring familiarity and expertise with a broad field of system engineering, integration and technical knowledge.

The System Engineer will be involved in requirement analysis, management, mapping and allocated baseline definition. Closely working with the architects and subject matter experts on developing a comprehensive design document suite focusing on a single integrated health system design, working with the test team on developing the associated acceptance test procedures aligned to the allocated requirements baseline.

You will work collaboratively in a tight-knit team who love working together to get the job done. You will have initiative, drive results and manage change.   

Key functions of the role include:

  • Developing and revising technical specifications and documentation, including technology specific clinical data models to support application needs
  • Ensuring the compliance to the allocated requirements and associated engineering standards
  • Developing and enforcing optimised engineering processes required to minimise engineering risks and achieve the desired engineering outcomes
  • Assist in the design, build, integration and implementation of technological applications that are configured to meet the customer requirements
  • Contributing to architecture and specialty engineering artefacts of the system design
  • Participation in technical and program reviews at varying levels with management and customers, including review of subcontractor involvement
  • Participation in system change reviews to assess the security impact of those changes
  • Contribution to project planning and estimating, status monitoring and reporting
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships across all levels and influence key stakeholders

Qualifications

About you and what you’ll bring

  • Desirable expertise with the use of industry health data standards such as FHIR, HL7, DICOM and clinical document architectures.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, computer science, information technology or a related discipline. Relevant certifications or professional membership would be desirable.
  • Demonstrable professional experience working on large, complex ICT projects utilising DODAF/AUSDAF and TOGAN architecture standards, health care industry experience desirable
  • Knowledge and application of a broad range of skills including systems and enterprise architecture, software, ICT engineering, service-oriented architectures and interface protocols
  • Personal and professional attributes that include strong and proven problem solving and organisational skills. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to coach and mentor others to further the professional development of the team.

This role requires the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold or be eligible for an NV1 security clearance.
