Job Description

Join a large and complex federal program of work and play a critical role in maturing and evolving our PMO function. 

As the PMO Manager your objective is to ensure the overall integrity and coherence of the program. A key aim of the PMO is to provide access to relevant, accurate and meaningful information to the right people to support decision-making. In this role your key stakeholders will be the Program executive leadership team, the program and project management community and senior customer stakeholders. 

You will need to establish and embed a governance framework across the program, which encompasses:

  • Project and Program Control;
  • Resource Management;
  • Scheduling;
  • Risk, Issue and Change Management;
  • Information Management;
  • PMCE (best practice guidance, process, tools and templates);
  • Quality Assurance and Continual Process Improvement;
  • Benefits Management

Opportunities to deliver impact in this role include: 

  • Drive improvements into the PMO program and ensure industry best practices are leveraged;
  • Perform team member supervision including performance management, career growth and development;
  • Ensure implementation of PMO concepts and Project Management standards;
  • Work with Project Managers and Program Team Leads to maintain a complete resource index for the program, which will form the basis of a shared resource pool for the master schedule, a workforce planning model, a program rate card and Program distribution lists;
  • Work with the extended leadership team to ensure all risks and issues are captured, assessed and managed appropriately to avoid or minimise impacts to both Leidos and the ATO. This may include coaching, facilitation of risk workshops, quality reviews, involvement in project planning and post implementation reviews, and maturity assessments;
  • Facilitate the project stage-gate review process, and coordinate project health checks and audits as required, providing recommendations for ongoing improvements to the PMO Analyst; 
  • Work with the project manager and scheduler to ensure all inter-project dependencies are listed and linked in the master schedule in order to proactively manage dependencies and provide accurate delivery timelines; 
  • Manage regular project and program reporting and change control by scrutinising and challenging project and program performance data, and ensuring changes are triggered as per agreed tolerances and change control process. 

Qualifications

About you and What You Will Bring 

To be successful in this role you must have demonstrated experience leading or managing a PMO and experience in establishing or maturing a PMO. A background in large and complex programs will be highly valued. There is a great opportunity in this role to deliver true business impact. You must be a confident people leader and be able to influence and motivate varied project teams. 

  • 5 yrs relevant experience working on projects or within a PMO
  • SharePoint administration experience
  • Project management training & certifications (such as CAPM/PMP, PRINCE2, MSP or P3O)
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including Visio and Project
  • Ability to engage stakeholders at all levels of the business

Candidates will need to be Australian Citizen to hold and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
