Job Description

Our environment is dynamic, and fast-paced, the true opportunity here is to continue to grow what is already a successful part of the business -into a business that continues to support our organisations growth with exciting, new opportunities for our people to work on. As trusted advisors to the Chief Information Officer Group (CIOG), you will lead your team to engage and consult with various Defence customers to deliver value add proposals and quality designs for complex, ICT solutions.

Your leadership of the Solution Architect Team will require resource planning, quality assurance of proposals and designs and leading formal and informal architecture reviews for complex ICT solutions. Additionally you will work collaboratively with the Leidos Defence CTO team to support the delivery of the Defence Long Range IT Plan.

Your expertise in managing a team of Solution Architects’ to deliver will be your calling in life!   Motivating/Championing/Supporting the team to excel will be key part of your DNA. This role is a true manager position where you will have a good split between the technical aspects and people focus. You will have a good understanding of the Defence ICT environment, a pragmatic approach and an innate customer focus. You will be a Technical Manager that has the ability to move between the PM space (organising and working to agreed timescales and SLA’s) and the Technical space to and support the team to achieve and meet the customers’ requirements that are more often than not complex, ICT solutions.

This area of the organisation is the hub for emerging work and on- contract growth. You and your team will be involved in some of the below:

  • Manage Solution Architect resources to meet the dynamic project delivery needs of the Project Services department within the Defence Centralised Processing (CP) environments
  • Provide architecture oversight and governance ensuring compliance with Leidos’ and Defence’s standards
  • Review Rough Order of Magnitudes (ROMs), Proposals and Quick Turn-around Proposals (QTPs) for ICT solutions for Defence
  • Be a point of escalation for the Solution Architect team and assist to resolve issues and blockers
  • Work with the Program Manager and team leads to manage risk and ensure successful program delivery
  • Engage and liaise with CIOG Platform Services and their customers to scope and triage new projects
  • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders both internally and in the customer organisation, and provide guidance to ensure complex ICT problems are solved
  • Continuously improve architecture tools, processes and delivery artefacts to maintain relevance and value
  • Develop Solution Architect Team goals and assist with training and development plans
