Job Description

Leidos Australia is looking for a Software Engineer to join our team based in Canberra, working as part of our talented team of integration and infrastructure engineers delivering and enhancing mission critical systems, ensuring the highest level of availability, performance, and security.

You will be able to demonstrate knowledge and professional experience as a Senior Software Engineer in a multidisciplinary environment including and understanding of SharePoint infrastructure and the software engineering life cycle.  Experience within an agile environment would be of benefit.

You will be responsible for:

  • Eliciting, understanding, and designing against both business and technical requirements,
  • Software design and development/prototyping and investigations,
  • Management of Agile development tools,
  • Tools customisation and integration,
  • Software design and development/prototyping and investigations,
  • Software coding and unit testing,
  • System integration and testing,
  • Coordination of agile life cycle activities and ensuring progress is being made with the objectives,
  • Software documentation,
  • User interface design and development,
  • System release and deployment, and
  • Engaging effectively with the Systems Engineering team, management, and other teams across the Technical Systems areas.

Qualifications

Coupled with your education and practical experience, you will demonstrate a pro-active approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues and develop relationships to achieve the company’s objectives. 

You will also have:

  • Several years of experience working in a similar role within an engineering or project environment (preferably in a similar industry)
  • A demonstrated ‘can-do’, pro-active approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues and develop relationships to achieve client objectives,
  • Good problem solving skills,
  • Good experience with the relevant technologies and domains,
  • Good knowledge and application of a broad range of skills including software, systems and enterprise architecture, software and hardware engineering, interface protocols ,
  • Demonstrated ability to produce consistently good results in a complex environment,
  • Good experience with the relevant technologies and domains,
  • Ability to work autonomously or with minimal supervision, and deliver completed work on schedule,
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills,
  • Willingness to document and improve software development processes, and
  • Will have experience of the .NET development environment as well as Java development.

Additional Information

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and be eligible to obtain a Australian security clearance.
