Job Description

The DLSS Group at Leidos currently has a 12 month opportunity for an entry level Engineer to work at RAAF Williams Laverton Victoria with potential to extend. This is an exciting opportunity to use your Unix/Linux, Apache, SVN, database and application experience helping the Cargo Visibility System (CVS) Team accomplish their role of maintaining the system. The system comprises of a Unix Application, Web Application, monitoring scripts & reports, Production/Testing/Dev database maintenance, Training Database, interfaces with SAP and other systems (MILIS, WMS, TM9) outside of Defence. Technical on the job training supported by experienced CVS Engineers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • SYSTEM – Monitor and maintain all CVS servers including adjusting system configuration files and writing scripts to perform routine tasks.
  • DATABASE – Monitor and maintain all the databases on CVS production server including Training database 
  • LOGS – Review Application, Ingres and System logs along with CRON logs and active scripts.
  • APPLICATION – Adjust and assist with migration and the CVS application and provide recommendation for improvements.
  • INTERFACES – Monitor all interfaces throughout the day and restore the service as quick as possible upon failure.  
    • MILIS Interface
    • WMS Interface
    • WDSC Interface
  • CVS WEBSITE – CVS uses Apache/Tomcat to host the CVS website to adjust and improve monitoring.
  • ARCHIVE – Perform yearly archiving duties.

Qualifications

This role is ideal for someone with:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Systems 
  • Bachelor Degree in Software Development.

And exposure and interest in:

  • UNIX Solaris 10 environments
  • Relational SQL databases
