We have an opportunity for an experienced and driven Senior Commercial Manager to manage complex negotiations for new and existing Federal Government and Defence programs.  This position will see you liaise with the Senior Leadership team and support Executive across the enterprise. You will also be responsible for managing a small commercial team.

Reporting to the Head of Sourcing and Commercial Manager and liaising within project teams, this role will see you;

  • Lead negotiations with customer
  • Lead meetings with customer to discuss contract performance
  • Provide expert contract and commercial advice to Leidos’ corporate areas and projects, both for contracts and sub-contracts.
  • Develop commercial positions based upon the contract terms to ensure effective Program execution.
  • Develop commercial  methodology to reduce, manage or mitigate program risk.
  • Work with the business to develop proposals that align with the contract and are competitive.
  • Identify any commercial and contractual issues or opportunities within contracts/subcontracts, and address them in a timely and effective manner.
  • Actively support new business activities including reviewing terms and conditions of tenders and contracts, preparation of compliance matrixes, provision of advice on commercial-in-confidence material, insurances, conflicts of interest etc.

Qualifications

About You and What You’ll Bring

  • An experienced and collaborative leader who is able to build effective internal and external customer relationships.
  • Experience in managing a team and building capability.
  • 7+ years experience in Commercial Management / Procurement role for Federal Government / Defence industry.
  • Working knowledge of Australian corporate and commercial law (preferablely Legal qualifications).
  •  Extensive experience in drafting, negotiation and review of complex contracts
  •  Experience in being the lead negotiator of major Defence and/or Federal Government contracts ( preferably Defence and Intelligence Community).
  • Working in a multi-tasking environment and prioritising tasks to meet deadlines.
  • 5 years experience in managing a small team.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical and problem solving skills.
