Your New Role

The Chief Systems Engineer will see you joining our leadership team in the Technical Directorate, where you will be working horizontally across the business supporting Defence and Federal government programs.  This is a highly valued position, and is really considered the Practice Manager for System Engineering & Integration in Leidos. The Chief Systems Engineer will be reporting to the Technical Director -this is an integral role which will see you ensuring mission success through enterprise, lean and agile approaches that utilise model-based and open architecture process and tools. It is a leadership role and manages staff within a direct team- they are a high performing team so bring your inspired leadership skills to life!

You will manage the continuous integration of the Engineering Practice with other key technical capabilities, ensuring processes, artefacts and resources are maintained for optimal outcomes. This role will work closely with both the presales and the delivery teams on customer programs and assignments, ensuring engineering standards and quality are achieved and maintained. All the while ensuring improvements are captured back into the Engineering Practice for the benefit of the organisation.

Below is a brief snapshot of what you and your team will be involved in:

  • Designing and maintaining System Engineering & Integration processes to enhance work flow
  •  Providing System Engineering support for Business Development and Programs
  • Continuing to achieve key business metrics for Practice performance and effectiveness, building a TCC community of practice for Engineering
  • Managing the engagement with Customers and Global Divisions for design, delivery and resourcing activities including recruiting the right engineering resources
  • Manage the design review process for system designs and associated outcomes for remediation actions
  • Training and certification of engineering resources by establishing the career path for resources to increase retention
  • Participates in technical design review meetings for internal and external representatives concerning specific operations
  • Continuously drive process improvement and excellence within the Systems Engineering function

Your relationship skills will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of outcomes for both System Engineering and Integration and you excel in the art of juggling, time management, and relationship development. You are self-driven in execution and commercial outcomes, you excel in strategic analysis and are strong in both written and verbal communication.
