Job Description

Leidos is in a significant growth phase which means opportunities are available now and in the future for talented Systems Engineers that want to work on exciting projects that really do make a difference to Australia.

We have an Engineering hub in Melbourne that falls part of our project teams which focusses on delivering national capability to our Defence customer. 

As a system engineer you would be part of a freshly created team setting up the acquisition project to deliver capability, with a strong view to the Through Life Support Contract, to ensure ongoing sustainment of the capability.

As an Engineer you would contribute to requirement management, product selection, characterisation and interface management, design and integration, and verification activities. You will enjoy providing technical solutions to a wide range of difficult (and interesting) problems, to meet the capability effect-in a manner that can be sustained for the life of the capability.

Our new team members will ideally have previous experience in the defence industry, or an engineering or maintenance organisation. Practical experience is essential and ideally coupled with a Bachelor of Engineering.

Technical skills are important but we can train and guide you if you don’t have all the criteria. Just as important are the personal attributes. We want flexible, open minded individuals that are happy to work in an agile and growing organisation. You will have a proactive approach with a strong ability to understand broader business, identify and develop relationships to help us achieve the company objectives. 

Qualifications

You will also have experience in some of the following:

Managing packages of technical work on stand-alone products and integrated systems

Performing technical risk assessments

Having a qualification (CPEng), or working towards this would be an advantage

Experience with the introduction into service of integrated COTS products
