Job Description

Leidos Australia is experiencing rapid growth and has recently secured long term programs in the Defence and national security fields. We are seeking talented software engineers / programmers at all levels to join our experienced team, based in the Melbourne CBD. 

As a Software Engineer at Leidos you will be responsible for performing complex software engineering challenges requiring familiarity and expertise with a broad field of engineering and technical knowledge.  This is a rare opportunity to contribute to advanced and innovative solutions as part of a full software engineering lifecycle for an important Defence program, and a step through the door to many more.

Working in an agile development team, you will:

  • Contribute to software design, documentation, development, integration, test and release

  • Contribute to user interface design and development

  • Perform software engineering tool customisation, automation and integration

  • Perform software prototyping, investigations, research and development

  • Contribute to software planning and estimating, status monitoring and reporting

  • Participate in technical and program reviews at varying levels with management and customers

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels and influence key stakeholders

Qualifications

You have a Bachelor degree in engineering, computer science, information technology or a related discipline, together with relevant professional experience and specialised training.  Relevant certification or Professional membership is desirable.  The ability to gain an NV1 security clearance is required for this role.

Coupled with your education you have:

  • Substantial experience with Agile, Scrum and associated methodologies

  • Substantial experience with open source tools and products

  • Professional experience working in a software role within an engineering or project environment (preferably in a similar industry)

  • Knowledge and application of a broad range of skills including software, systems and enterprise architecture, software and hardware engineering, interface protocols

Your personal and professional attributes include strong and proven problem solving and organisational skills.  You have great communication and interpersonal skills, together with a collaborative approach which help to build a productive team.
