Job Description

As the Support System Development Lead, you will manage a team of systems engineers and support analysts to design and develop the support organisation and systems for a large Defence software system.  This is a rare opportunity to make a major contribution to an important Defence program and a step through the door to many more.

You will:

  • Lead development of the support system – defining, documenting and implementing the organisation, tools and operating policies & procedures for the mission system support services, including application development and integration, information management,  help desk and training support
  • Ensure the support system (including people and processes) interfaces with the mission system to deliver overall system performance objectives
  • Lead stakeholder and user workshops to understand business process and operating procedures
  • Work with the engineering manager and program manager to ensure the support system is aligned to all areas of program delivery, risks are identified and mitigated, and schedule is met
  •  Participate in technical and program reviews at varying levels with management and customers, including review of subcontractor involvement and security considerations
  • Contribute to project planning and estimating, status monitoring and reporting
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels and influence key stakeholders
  • Contribute ideas to enhancing system capability and managing lifecycle costs

Qualifications

You have a Batchelor degree or higher in information technology, engineering or a related discipline, together with substantial relevant professional experience and specialised training.  Relevant certification or Professional membership is desirable, and the ability to hold an NV1 security clearance is required for this role.

Coupled with your education you will have:

  • Substantial professional experience working in a senior role within an engineering or project environment
  • Professional experience in the design and delivery of new support capabilities (organisation, processes and tools) with a demonstrable record of success and achievement
  • Knowledge and application of a broad range of skills including information management,  enterprise and information architecture, software, ICT engineering, training management and delivery and ITSM
  • Experience supporting complex ICT projects and in Defence ICT

Your personal and professional attributes will include strong and proven problem solving and organisational skills.  You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to coach and mentor others to further the professional development of the team.
