Job Description

Your new role

Based in our engineering hub in Melbourne you will be part of a project team of system engineering and ILS specialists focussed on delivering national capability to our Defence customer.

As a Systems / ILS Engineer you will be part of the team setting up the acquisition project to deliver capability, with a strong view to the Through Life Support contract, to ensure the ongoing sustainment of the capability. We have a variety of engineering and ILS roles at differing levels. We would be especially keen to hear from engineers with a background in Land Systems, specifically soldier protective equipment / hazardous materials treatment. You will contribute to requirements management, product selection, characterisation and interface management, design and integration, and verification activities.  Providing technical solutions to a wide range of difficult (and interesting) problems, to meet the capability effect – in a manner that can be sustained for the life of the capability.

Coupled with your education and practical experience, you will demonstrate a pro-active approach with the ability to understand the broader business, identify issues and develop relationships to achieve the company’s objectives.  You will likely have experience in some of the following:

  • Managing packages of technical work on stand-alone products and integrated systems
  • Systems Engineering processes and reviews
  • ILS requirements and associated analysis (RAM, supportability, PHS&T, disposal)
  • Performing technical risk assessments
  • Assisting in the development of user training and manuals to defence standards

Qualifications

About you and what you will bring

You will have a technical background with practical experience from an engineering or maintenance organisation.  Some roles will require a Bachelor of Engineering, however significant practical experience in the capability area will be considered for other roles within the project.

Having a qualification (CPEng), or working towards this would be desirable. In addition, experience in safety/risk assessments; technical and regulatory compliance/analysis; technical regulatory frameworks; technical report writing would be an advantage.  Ideally, you will have experience with the introduction into service of integrated COTS products.  Experience with requirements and ILS tools (DOORS, OPUS10) would also be an advantage.
