Job Description
We're looking for an Initial Risk Underwriter to join our Home Finance Operations team. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in assessing customer applications, ensuring appropriate risk management, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. What you'll be doing:
- Reviewing customer applications and assessing risk factors to determine what further information is required
- Requesting and evaluating documentation to support informed underwriting decisions
- Communicating with customers, advisers and third‑party providers in a clear, professional and timely manner
- Ensuring customer requirements are met and service levels are consistently achieved or exceeded
- Identifying and escalating complaints promptly to ensure appropriate resolution
- Applying legislative, regulatory and internal policy requirements to all decision‑making
- Ensuring information provided to customers is clear, tailored and supports good outcomes
- Collaborating with colleagues across teams to contribute to a smooth and efficient application journey
Who we're looking for:
- Experience managing your own workload and prioritising tasks effectively
- Confident written and verbal communication skills across multiple channels
- Ability to assess information holistically and make balanced, informed decisions
- Experience working in a fast‑paced or dynamic team environment
- Comfortable engaging with customers and stakeholders professionally
- An understanding of risk factors within equity release (desirable)
- Awareness of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements (desirable)
- Working knowledge of relevant systems or software (desirable)
