Company Description

Legal & General (L&G) is a leading UK financial services group and major global investor.

We’ve been safeguarding people’s financial futures since 1836, and strive to build a better society, while improving the lives of our customers and creating value for shareholders.

We are one of the world’s largest asset managers and provide powerful asset origination capabilities. Together, these underpin our retirement and protection solutions: we are an international player in pension risk transfer, in UK and US life insurance, and in UK workplace pensions and retirement income.

Our global asset management business provides our clients and partners with complex, responsible investment solutions, working internationally across public and private markets.

Who we are

We are one of Europe’s largest asset managers and a major global investor across public and private markets.

Asset Management is a critical driver of our Group strategy. The business aims to work synergistically with our Institutional Retirement and Retail divisions to benefit our clients and customers, and deliver enhanced shareholder returns.

Our investment philosophy and processes are focused on creating value over the long term. We believe that incorporating financially material sustainability criteria, when relevant to our clients, can create value and drive positive change.

Job Description

Join one of Europe’s major institutional asset managers and play a central role in shaping the future of Legal & General’s European fund platform. LGIM Europe is the EU management company of L&G Asset Management and part of the FTSE‑100‑listed Legal & General Group. With approximately €300bn in assets under management and a collaborative team spread across several European countries, this is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic, inclusive, and purpose‑driven environment.

As EU Legal Counsel, you’ll join a high‑impact legal team supporting our expanding range of EU‑regulated funds. This is an exciting role for a proactive, solutions‑focused lawyer looking to broaden their exposure and contribute to strategic initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Delivering legal support across the full lifecycle of EU UCITS and AIFs, including supporting fund launches and amendments
  • Advising internal teams, senior management, and fund boards by preparing legal risk assessments and recommending practical solutions
  • Monitoring legal and regulatory developments across the EU and assisting with shaping appropriate responses for the business
  • Supporting regulatory change projects aligned to LGIM Europe’s strategic objectives
  • Drafting, negotiating, and maintaining commercial and financial services agreements related to LGIM Europe and its funds
  • Managing governance‑related matters for LGIM Europe and its fund ranges, including advising boards on CP86 requirements
  • Preparing legal, regulatory, and governance reporting for senior management and board committees
  • Building and managing relationships with external legal counsel and contributing to budget oversight

Qualifications

Who we’re looking for:

  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a current Irish Practising Certificate (or equivalent)
  • 3–5 years’ post‑qualification experience in financial services, asset management, or funds law (in‑house or private practice)
  • Strong knowledge of EU funds regulation, including UCITS and AIFMD, and an understanding of management company governance (including CP86)
  • Experience drafting and negotiating fund service provider agreements
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent organisational abilities, with the capability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Commercial awareness and a pragmatic, solutions‑driven approach
  • A collaborative team player with a positive, proactive mindset

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance -related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only)
  • At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays.
