Job Description
We have a newly created role for a Transfer Pricing & International Tax Manager who will support senior colleagues, to manage all transfer pricing matters across policy, documentation, and operations. Territories currently include the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, the USA and Bermuda.
The role will also provide broader international tax support on business initiatives and transactions. Responsibilities include tax technical support on Pillar II implementation, international tax technical analysis, mergers and acquisitions, international tax compliance issues (CFC and CbCR) and managing international tax risk.
The role may require occasional, ad hoc travel to overseas locations.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting the Head of International Tax and Transfer Pricing on all Transfer Pricing matters, to include:
- Preparing and maintaining the necessary transfer pricing documentation ensuring compliance with local laws and transfer pricing policies
- Developing and implementing appropriate transfer pricing policies.
- Coordinating the engagement of global tax authorities on transfer pricing matters.
- Monitoring developments to transfer pricing rules globally and advise the business on the potential impact of these changes.
- Providing subject matter expertise as a tax business partner on transfer pricing and international tax issues, advising the business divisions on potential tax exposures in relation to international projects / international direct investments which may include assessment of PE risk and profit attribution, application of CFC rules, diverted profits tax, transfer pricing and application of local domestic taxes.
- Supporting the Head of International Tax & Transfer Pricing on the technical workstream for the Group’s implementation of Pillar 2. Working closely with the Tax Compliance & Reporting team to ensure appropriate design, scoping and delivery of the compliance solution.
- Supporting the Head of International Tax & Transfer Pricing to design and implement Permanent Establishment and tax residence risk management strategies, including development of operating guidelines, training and ongoing monitoring.
- Reviewing and commenting on the UK Country-by-Country Report and manage local notifications for territories outside the UK. Supporting on other international tax compliance as required, including preparation of the annual UK CFC review.
- Liaising with key finance and business contacts in the UK and overseas to build networks to ensure smooth management and communication of transfer pricing and international tax issues. Working closely with legal and finance teams to ensure intra-group agreements are maintained. Building networks externally with advisors, relevant tax authorities and industry bodies.
- Collaborating with other members of the Group Tax team to ensure appropriate subject matter expertise is obtained as required. Liaising with VAT and Employment tax specialists to ensure international tax team knowledge of global indirect tax obligations and global mobility is maintained.
- Ensuring all activities are carried out in line with our Treating Customers Fairly accountability.
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
- Qualified Accountant or Lawyer, or with sufficient experience to maintain up-to-date professional knowledge.
- Member or fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, or with sufficient tax experience to maintain up-to-date professional knowledge.
- Technical knowledge of OECD transfer pricing rules and how these are applied in key markets.
- Technical knowledge of core International Tax concepts, principles, and frameworks.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Proven commercial experience across transfer pricing compliance and advisory (whether obtained in practice or in-house).
- Experience working with financial services businesses desirable (whether obtained in practice or in-house).
- Builds and develops strong relationships with staff, peers and other contacts within the business.
- Experience of providing tax advice and be able to explain tax technical issues in a clear and concise way to non-tax experts.
