Job Description

We're looking for a self-motivated Candidate Engagement Manager to help us expand the CoderGirl program into the Kansas City area. Note that we said "expand" here - if you like building new things - keep reading!

The Candidate Engagement Manager works to discover, train and employ the next great technologists and is a key partner to the service LaunchCode provides. You'll be on the Impact Team, where our values center around humans first and growth mindset.

You'll combine organizational skills & tech knowledge to manage the delivery of our FREE education programs, use your interpersonal and interview skills to assess candidates' skillset, and coach candidates to improve and showcase their tech skills in the best light possible. If you love helping people grow and develop, this is the job for you!

Responsibilities

  • Be the operational lead for running tech education programs - hiring, training, and overseeing contracted course staff, recruiting learners, and coordinating support for a training cohort of about 150 learners.
  • Coordinate with and provide feedback about the effectiveness of our educational programs to the Education Team.
  • Review and evaluate technical and behavioral skills to assess readiness for LaunchCode's Apprenticeship program.
  • Provide useful constructive feedback to candidates, connect them to resources, and mentor them in their professional development.
  • Work with the Company Relations Team to identify matches between jobs and candidates.

What it's like to work at LaunchCode

  • You're part of changing the tech landscape and changing lives - traditionally, tech education hasn't been widely accessible to many demographics and populations. Of LaunchCode students enrolled in courses in 2020, 50% identify as people of color and 56% identify as women. 69% come from low-to-moderate income households. After being placed in a permanent position, the average LaunchCoder more than doubles their previous salary.
  • You'll be part of a company that values diversity, equity, and inclusion among our staff, students, and board - In 2019, the St Louis Women's Foundation named LaunchCode as an honoree in its employment scorecard initiative for demonstrating a strong commitment to women in the workplace. Forbes also named us one of 2020's best startup employers in the U.S. Beyond external recognition, we believe deeply in Black Lives Matter, celebrating Pride all year round, and uplifting women in tech.
  • You'll be immersed in a culture based on shared values - We love to laugh, compete for the best GIF game on Slack, and show off our pets. We also share these values: being kind, collaboration, trust, and appreciation.
