Job Description

LaunchCode's Immersive CodeCamp

CodeCamp is 14 weeks long, with class sizes between 20 and 40 students. Curriculum is managed by LaunchCode and delivered by course staff, which consists of one Lead Instructor and 1-2 Teaching Assistants. Curriculum consists of procedural programming and web programming fundamentals in Python, with additional job-ready skills taught in Java.

LaunchCode is seeking highly motivated individuals to serve as Teaching Assistants (TAs) for CodeCamp. TAs are responsible for assisting with instruction, working closely with students, and helping with course administration.

This is a full-time, contract position. The period of engagement is April 2019 through July 2019.

This position is located in the metro St. Louis.

Qualifications

An Immersive CodeCamp Teaching Assistant:
  • Supports the Lead Instructor in delivering course content
  • Supports the Lead Instructor in administering the course, including grading and attendance
  • Works one-on-one with every student in the class to ensure optimal support and learning
An Immersive CodeCamp Teaching Assistant has experience:
  • Programming in a variety of languages, including object-oriented; dynamically- and statically-typed; compiled and interpreted
  • Presenting programming concepts in both verbal and written settings
  • Staying up-to-date on current programming trends and practices
An Immersive CodeCamp Teaching Assistant must possess:
  • A strong desire to work with driven individuals and help them succeed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An outcome-oriented work ethic
