Do you have an background in supporting major Infrastructure technology – around Networking, Storage and VMWare? Do you have a broad technical skillset but looking to be re-trained in new technologies and looking for a new challenge? Do you have a strong background in Networking ( network routing, switching, Firewalls), VMWare and some experience of SAN technologies – NetApp preferably, and want to be the Lead Engineer / Team Lead for the team?

About the role:

The Lead Infrastructure Engineer/Analyst role will be office based in their Manchester office, working as part of a small team, provide effective solutions to escalated technical issues, and provide a high level of technical expertise to the business. You will provide new technical solutions ensuring effective working across the full range of services provided by the business, and liaise with 3rd party suppliers and external contractors.

You will work in a fast-paced technical environment and be exposed to a varied array of technology.

You will be involved in investigating problems and providing root cause analysis. The role offers scope to become the Team Lead for a growing Infrastructure Team.

The role will involve working with technologies such as Network Routing, Switching, Firewalls, NetApp, Hp/ Cisco UCS, LAN, WAN, Virtualisation (VMWare/ Hyper-V),SAN, Cloud,Veeam etc.

 Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support of multi-site technical environments including LAN, WAN, Microsoft, VMWare, Network and administer SANs
  2. Take ownership of escalated issues as 3rd line support and resolving any queries within SLA
  3. Resolution of configuration and deployment issues, ensuring management of core IT Infrastructure operations thru system monitoring and maintenance
  4. Ensure that 3rd party applications run efficiently across all platforms, provide root cause analysis to any problems
  5. Maintain and develop good working relationships with colleagues, other departmental members and suppliers.
  6. Any other related duties as required by the business, including analysis and advising on best practice.
  7. Some on-call support when required ( which has an on-call allowance and additional overtime is available)

 Essential Technical Skills:

Candidates must have some exposure to most of the technologies listed below:

  • Network Security Technologies ( Proxy/ Content Filtering / IPS/ IDS)
  • VMWare / Hyper-V– good level of understanding, strong preference for VCP qualification
  • SAN – any versions – Preference for NetApp experience but training given
  • Networking -TCP/ IP, Switches, routers, Wireless Networks
  • Backup software – ( Veeam is ideal)
  • Storage replication and multi-site storage deployments
