Job Description

At Lakeshore, the products we make end up in classrooms, homes, and the hands of children. Keeping the people and assets behind those products safe is work that matters. As a Security Guard at our DC2 distribution center in Midway, KY, you'll be the eyes and ears of a busy warehouse and yard operation, making sure employees, visitors, and cargo are safe and accounted for every shift. You'll follow clear procedures, work closely with your Safety Supervisor, and build real expertise in security and workplace safety along the way.

A day on the job looks like this:

  • Track and audit cargo trailers using our yard management system, making sure all shipments are accurately accounted for throughout your shift
  • Patrol the warehouse, yard, and perimeter — on foot and by vehicle — watching for signs of trespassing, vandalism, fence breaches, or unsafe conditions
  • Monitor the facility via CCTV and direct observation, reporting any unusual activity, equipment misuse, or unauthorized access to your supervisor promptly
  • Verify visitor identities and manage check-in according to established policy, keeping restricted areas secure
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents quickly, following established escalation procedures to get the right people involved
  • Support a safe work environment by applying OSHA standards in your daily rounds and flagging compliance concerns for supervisor review

Qualifications

Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 or more years of experience in security, loss prevention, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to observe, document, and communicate what you see — accurately and promptly
  • Comfortable using computer systems and digital tools to log activity and track assets
  • Ability to patrol on foot and by vehicle for extended periods across a large distribution center environment
  • This is a full-time, onsite role at our Midway, KY distribution center; regular, reliable on-site presence is required

Preferred:

  • CPR certification
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification
  • Prior experience working in a distribution center, warehouse, or logistics environment

What sets you apart:

  • You notice things others walk past — and you follow through by documenting and escalating concerns clearly and completely
  • You stay calm and consistent under pressure, especially when responding to fast-moving or unexpected situations
  • You treat every employee and visitor with respect, understanding that how you show up shapes how safe people feel at work

Additional Information

And here’s our end of the bargain!

  • Competitive compensation based on skills and experience, and bonus eligible
  • Paid leave for new parents to support work/life balance and family bonding
  • Excellent medical/dental and vision coverage—EPO, PPO and HSA
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company contribution (because you will retire someday)
  • Flexible benefits—choose what you like, ignore the rest
  • Generous employee discount
  • Casual dress…and we really mean it
