Job Description

We are seeking a Sr. Custom Product Planner to support Lakeshore’s planning, execution and delivery of custom and semi-custom production materials. In this role, you’ll help bring educational products to life, ensuring our customers receive the materials they need to create engaging, meaningful learning experiences for children.

You’ll oversee the full life cycle of multiple kits using SAP, WMS and other enterprise systems, along with analytics and reporting tools. Responsibilities span from order intake through production release, including inventory reservation, production scheduling and tracking component availability within each production BOM. Acting as the central point of coordination across teams, you’ll help align priorities, solve problems and keep projects moving forward on time and with accuracy.

This position follows a hybrid work model with established on-site workdays at our Carson, California, headquarters, subject to change based on business requirements.

A day on the job looks like this:

  • Determining and owning planning and execution for custom and semi-custom kits, ensuring build readiness, system accuracy and on-time delivery from approval through shipment
  • Providing cross-functional coordination of assigned custom projects, aligning teams, timelines and priorities to protect build dates and customer commitments
  • Independently identifying and resolving risks related to materials, BOM, capacity and execution by analyzing data, synthesizing insights using tools such as Excel or Power BI and escalating solutions to stakeholders and management as issues arise
  • Owning and implementing planning effectiveness and team culture by contributing to process improvements, reinforcing standards and supporting collaborative execution across Planning Operations

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operational Management, a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in production planning
  • Proficiency in Excel with experience using Power BI or Power Query
  • Proficiency in SAP or equivalent ERP system, including MRP, production orders, and inventory management

Preferred:

  • Ability to synthesize data and clearly communicate insights to management
  • Experience partnering with Distribution Center production teams, including work related to value-added services, work-in-progress tracking, repairs and production scheduling

What Sets You Apart:

  • Strategic planner who connects day-to-day execution with broader business objectives and customer commitments
  • Skilled problem solver who uses data-driven insights and sound judgment to evaluate risks, manage trade-offs and keep work moving forward
  • Proactive owner who anticipates change, adapts plans across multiple planning horizons and minimizes disruption through thoughtful execution
  • Clear and credible communicator who aligns cross-functional partners through transparency, collaboration and shared accountability
