Job Description

In a time of unprecedented expansion, we are seeking a Senior Vice President of Distribution to join our team. In this role, you will work with high-level executives and individual department heads to ensure Lakeshore’s operational priorities are fully mapped out and aligned with the company’s overall direction and goals. The successful candidate will have the ability to strategize and collaborate in a team-oriented culture. Ideal applicants have experience overseeing B2B/B2C distribution settings with multiple locations. This position is located at our Carson, CA, distribution center, with 50% travel to support three centers across multiple states. 

A day in the office looks like this: 

  • Owning the development, leadership and execution of the operational strategic plan for all aspects of our fulfillment operations/distribution 
  • Working closely with the executive team and department heads to establish priorities for selected projects, set ambitious but achievable goals to improve efficiency and fulfill the company’s broader objectives 
  • Leading, advising and mentoring the on-site management group to support learning and development—and deliver results as one unified team 
  • Understanding the day-to-day operations, financials, head count, backlog and service levels 
  • Developing revisions and enhancements to schedules, resource allocations and production requirements  
  • Shaping continuous improvement efforts and ensuring adherence to best practices  
  • Working toward improving productivity while reducing operational costs 
  • Ensuring each location’s KPIs are at premium status levels 
  • Defining the annual budget 
  • Leading the network design processes to allow for future growth  
  • DC network evaluation to identify and strategize growth opportunities  
  • Overseeing and ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT and safety and environmental rules 
  • Identifying, prioritizing, structuring and solving an array of other complex business problems through the use of analytics and business judgment 

Qualifications

Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years of broad logistics, distribution and supply chain management experience in progressively senior positions within a high-volume retail distribution environment that includes automation 
  • 5+ years of e-commerce, direct-to-consumer, high-volume LTL and high-volume small parcel operations experience 
  • 5+ years on small parcel freight contracts and LTL contracts, with a solid knowledge of ocean, rail and intermodal transportation a plus 
  • Extensive background in storage utilization, both rack and bulked inventory 
  • Proven experience in managing high-value capital investment projects to include automation, MHE and WMS, TMS and LMS software integrations, as well as network optimization and the green-fielding of a distribution center 
  • Six Sigma/Lean manufacturing experience a plus 
  • Ability to create and analyze profit & loss statements and expense controls, as well as validate processes of KPI measurements 
  • Talent for fostering loyalty, cooperation and communication among various departments 
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with a detail-oriented mindset 
  • Ability to travel 50% each month
