Job Description

We are seeking a Staff Accountant I to join our team. In this role, you will assist the Inventory Accounting Manager with tasks pertaining to the month-end close process, general ledger reconciliation, inventory reporting and special projects. You will record business transactions with proper supporting documentation in accordance with best practices. The role will work closely with our Accounting and Financial Management team. The position will be responsible for carrying out the month-end and year-end financial closings and maintaining the general ledger for areas encompassing inventory, cycle counts, costing, valuation, amortization, purchase variances and/or other ledger accounts. Applicants should have the ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting and excellent organizational skills. 

A day on the job looks like this: 

  • Prepare and post journal entries; record appropriate monthly business expenses, accruals and reclasses 
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations and conduct account analysis and research to ensure accuracy and understanding of account balances and activity 
  • Review inventory reports by downloading, analyzing and combining data from various systems 
  • Calculate and record inventory valuation variances 
  • Assist with all aspects of GL month-end close   
  • Perform review and prepare inventory reports, including researching transactions for accuracy  
  • Interact cross-functionally and assist in special projects and year-end audit as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred  
  • 2 years of experience working in field preferred 
  • 4 years of experience working in a similar position preferred  
  • 4 years of experience managing people/projects preferred 
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting practices and procedures required 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite or similar software required 
  • Great accuracy and attention to detail required
