Job Description
We are currently searching for an experienced Sr. Product Design Engineer, Furniture to work on-site at our Carson headquarters with the flexibility to work from home depending on design stage. In this position, you will interact directly with a variety of departments to deliver production-ready designs, and you will provide solutions for design and manufacturing issues. Successful candidates will have a broad range of knowledge about manufacturing and production, with specific experience & expertise in Furniture. Lakeshore is a highly collaborative environment, so be prepared to work constructively and efficiently with both internal and external partners!
A day in the office looks like this:
- Design Engineering Furniture in SolidWorks with a focus on function, safety, durability, aesthetic and cost
- Ensuring quality engineering outcomes in response to development, hardware, manufacturing and operational requirements
- Providing furniture engineering expertise and feedback at product development meetings
- Providing detailed responses for product and technical requests
- Building proof-of-concept models and prototypes using in-house 3-D printers and other prototyping capabilities
- Presenting designs to team and executive management in product review meetings
- Establishing and maintain internal relationships and promote teamwork
- Working in multiple modalities that are critical to furniture (i.e., wood, metal, laminates, veneers)
Qualifications
Skills and background? Here’s what we’re looking for.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent exeprienc
- 7+ years of design engineering experience, with expertise in furniture specifically
- Proven experience creating and analyzing designs in SolidWorks
- Experience in selecting and specifying materials such as metals, wood, textiles, laminates, veneers and foams and furniture hardware
- Broad range of knowledge about common furniture manufacturing and production
- Experience and knowledge in the testing of furniture products. BIFMA standard knowledge a plus.
- Ability to synthesize functional & quality requirements with aesthetics from design partners
- Strong root cause–analysis skills with ability to quickly find workable solutions
- Ability to produce quality work on-time and according to deadlines
- Ability to provide course correction as needed
- Superb written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail including schedule adherence
- Bilingual ability a plus (Mandarin and/or Cantonese), but not a requirement

- Salary: $76,000 - $140,000 with an annual bonus of up to 10%
