Job Description

As we expand our Accounting team, we have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Freight Analyst. In this role, you will manage and support the day-to-day freight operations of the company, evaluate the efficiency of transits, conduct audits on invoices and identify streamlined transportation methods. The freight operations payments you will oversee include nationwide, truckload, less-than-truckload, parcel, ocean/import, inbound and outbound. The successful candidate will have a detail-oriented mindset with a natural talent for statistics and numbers. Ultimately, as a top-class Freight Analyst, you will be able to quickly identify logistics bottlenecks and devise cost-effective solutions to improve efficiency.
 

A day on the job looks like this:

  • Administering all freight payments for the company through Syncada software and performing analyses of all data collected from external and internal sources
  • Maintaining a list of all approved carriers, setting up billing guides and creating an auditing process for each carrier, including tolerances and thresholds
  • Performing audits on all international and domestic invoices, including parcel, ocean and LTL/FTL shipments
  • Processing freight claims for parcel shipments and reconciling credits
  • Partnering with key stakeholders on import/export logistics 
  • Conducting transportation data analytics and cost research
  • Preparing monthly reports on operational and financial metrics
  • Developing metrics for transportation analysis
  • Conducting financial and variance analyses for expenses, services and quality
  • Providing recommendations based on data analysis and research

Qualifications

Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for: 

  • 3–5 years of related experience in Accounting or Finance required, with experience in Freight or Transportation preferred 
  • Experience as an Import/Export Clerk a plus 
  • Previous experience with import bound/ocean freight preferred
  • Experience with Syncada software a plus
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Proficiency with accounting software 
  • Great accuracy and attention to detail
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills over the phone and in person
  • Self-directed and motivated individual comfortable working in a collaborative environment 
  • Excellent organizational skills and a strong sense of urgency
  • Ability to work on-site at our Carson office
