Job Description
La Scuola International School is seeking a dynamic and collaborative IB-MYP Humanities and Language Teacher to join our Middle School team. This role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about inquiry-based learning, interdisciplinary teaching, and working in a bilingual, international environment.
At La Scuola, we value curiosity, creativity, and global citizenship. The successful candidate will teach students in grades 6–8 and contribute to a learning community grounded in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme and inspired by our Italian roots.
Role & Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Designing, planning & implementing appropriate curriculum goals and long-term projects within the IB-MYP guidelines;
- Setting educational and developmental goals for the students, both as a group and individually;
- Preparing the environment (indoor and outdoor) so as to support the educational objectives/goals;
- Establishing and maintaining a personal connection with each parent, student's family;
- Documenting student progress and learning outcomes and communicating with parents.
Teaching and Learning
- Plan and teach courses according to IB Middle Years Program guidelines.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including English language learners and students with learning needs.
- Develop, enhance and document curriculum, while ensuring continued coordination and alignment within the IB Middle Years Program.
- Connect English and Individuals and Societies curricula to other subject areas in a broad multidisciplinary approach.
- Contribute to the development of Interdisciplinary Units, Experiential Learning, and Service Action.
- Chaperone and facilitate experiential learning opportunities as needed.
Leadership, Procedural and Administrative Duties
- Collect, analyze, and share annual student data with Pedagogical Leadership Team.
- Collaborate with teachers in other grade levels on Humanities and Language inquiries.
- Serve as a Community Project mentor for Year 3 students as needed.
- Serve as a student advisor, provide scheduled supervision of students, participate in MS trips and field experiences, and engage in ongoing professional development.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of the Grade 8 Experiential Learning trip to Italy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education (or equivalent area of study) and / or California Teaching Credential;
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching Middle School grades 6 - 8, preferably in a Language Immersion, Reggio Emilia and / or and International Baccalaureate (IB) accredited school; or 5+ years experience working with children;
- Bilingual and bi-literate in Italian and/or Spanish and English with native or near-native proficiency.

Additional Information
Start date: August 1, 2026
Salary: $35,000 - $45,000 annual salary, commensurate with experience and credentials.

La Scuola may be able to offer a teachers exchange visa for teachers with a BA in education/teaching credentials in their country of origin AND a minimum of two years of teaching experience.
Prior to beginning work and as a condition of employment in order to comply with the law, all employees must provide documentation to prove eligibility to work in the United States. In addition, the final candidate will need to pass Criminal Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance, a physical exam, and provide recent copy of a negative TB test/assessment and other immunization records.
