Job Description
The Lubrication Technician is responsible for coordinating all lubrication maintenance functions to include lubricant handling and storage, machine lubrication, contamination control, and inspections and repairs. The Lubrication Technician utilizes the PDM system to perform lubrication checks and is also involved in writing PDM procedures.
- Read machine manuals and guides to ensure compliance with warranties and manufacturer specifications in relation to lubrication programs.
- Perform all lubrication processes and checks according to established PDM guidelines; assist in writing guidelines in situations where they do not exist.
- Assist in taking lubricant samples for analysis and review results with appropriate members of management; assist in evaluating lubricant trials and samples.
- Assist in the selection of appropriate lubricants and in implementing lubricant consolidation programs; advise management of safety, quality, wear, or other issues associated with lubricants.
- Assist in the selection of lubrication equipment, pumps, filters, tools, hoses, containers, and safety equipment.
- Replace grease fittings, sight glasses, oil level control devices, and filters as needed or as required by PDM.
- Maintain all lubrication equipment in proper operating condition.
- Properly store new and used lubricants according to environmental and/or company regulations.
- Ensure against contamination of new and used lubricants; ensure against contamination resulting in the creation of hazardous materials.
- Inspect fluids for cleanliness, replace, and alert management as needed.
- Inspect incoming lubricants and equipment for quality and correctness.
- Participate in new equipment installation in relation to lubrication processes; identify all lubrication points on new equipment.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor or other members of the leadership team
Qualifications
- Understanding of mechanical processes
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- 2-3 years of maintenance experience
- High school degree or equivalent
- Basic Microsoft Office experience
