Job Description

As Application Engineer you prepare the design and technical commercial proposals based on cost estimates for material handling equipment and modernizations including hoists, cranes, transporters, machines, jibs and custom products to be utilized in a production or maintenance capacity in nuclear power, government, and specialty plant environments.

In your work you:

  • Develop 3D CAD models and detailed 2D production drawings for customised cranes.
  • Support technically in all phases of the sales process.
  • Review customer Request for Proposals and technical documentations.
  • Are familiar with different design standards and global nuclear standards for cranes.
  • Engineer the crane structural components including the Hoist, Trolley and Bridge components for the speciality application using (SMT/SM, LV, CXT, LLE, or custom nuclear components)  
  • Develop a preliminary mechanical system configuration, including man-hour estimates, manufacturing quotes and other related data so an accurate proposal can be created to satisfy a customer’s Request for Proposals.
  • Utilize proprietary Konecranes software, price books, product manuals, and manual calculations to design and select appropriate components. 
  • Travel to customer sites globally together with the sales team.
  • Awareness of ISO 14001 & 45001 Standards

Qualifications

EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s Degree in  Mechanical Engineering Required (or equivalent)

EXPERIENCE:  - 3-5 Years of experience in Designing and Technical sales process

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING-

  • Good experience in 2D (AutoCAD/Vertex)and 3D designing (NX/Solidworks/Inventor) tools.
  • Solution oriented approach is required with customer centricity.
  • Work independently, be creative and organized.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, have good specification and blueprint reading skills and be able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally. 
  • Excellent computer skills are essential i.e., Excel, Word and MS Projects. 
  • Strong technical background required. 
  • Mechanical and Electrical design and estimating is required. 
  • Prior experience with engineered to order cranes and components used in nuclear power plants or similar custom applications is preferred.
