Job Description
We are looking for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, Special Projects to join our Port Services Procurement team and support project-based sourcing activities within Global Service Delivery (GSD). This new role strengthens our project organization by providing sourcing expertise throughout both the quotation and project execution phases.
In this position, you will manage sourcing activities for multiple engineer‑to‑order (ETO) projects, coordinate supplier inquiries and competitive bidding, analyze technical requirements and ensure that each project has the right suppliers, specifications and delivery timelines. You will work closely with Project Managers, engineering teams, Contract Managers and suppliers to help achieve sourcing results that meet both technical and commercial requirements.
You will also take responsibility for selected global suppliers and support their performance development to meet Konecranes requirements. Together with the team, you play a key role in building a resilient, cost‑effective and high-performing supply chain that supports the ambitious growth targets of our Port Service Business Unit.
This position can be based in Tampere or Hyvinkää, Finland. The role includes travel approximately 20 to 30 days per year depending on project needs.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage sourcing activities for multiple ETO projects, from quotation phase to project execution.
- Identify suitable suppliers for project-specific needs and coordinate supplier inquiries and competitive bidding based on technical drawings and specifications.
- Act as a primary contact for selected suppliers and ensure their performance meets Konecranes requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, engineering teams, sales, Contract Managers, and Global Service Delivery stakeholders to align technical and commercial requirements.
- Maintain accurate procurement-related data in SAP and contribute to ongoing process development.
Qualifications
What we expect:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in business, economics or technical engineering with a focus on procurement.
- Experience in technical sourcing or procurement of components used in equipment or machinery, ideally gained over a few years.
- Ability to understand technical drawings (electrical or mechanical) and product specifications and communicate effectively with engineering and suppliers.
- Experience with SAP, eProcurement tools and Microsoft applications for data analysis. Familiarity with Jira and Salesforce is considered an advantage.
- Fluent English skills. Finnish, German and Spanish are considered beneficial.
- A positive and collaborative attitude with strong networking, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- A proactive, self‑driven and structured working style with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a time‑sensitive project environment.
