    Job Description

    We have an exciting opportunity for a creative UI/UX Designer to join a software company's Design team. The Designer will be working on projects side-by-side with other talented and experienced team members. The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of professional UI/UX design experience.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Product team membership:

    • Contributing member of the Product team, taking part in delivering the goals of the organisation.
    • Assisting other UI/UX Designers and conducting peer reviews.
    • Establish and implement comprehensive style guides and libraries.
    • Adhering to standards for UI/UX design.
    • Identify bottlenecks and come up with novel ways to solve them.
    • Maintain compliance with business processes and policies.

     

    Project and Scrum Team Engagements:

    • Working within the Project Team as UI/UX designer.
    • Working with the other team members to investigate problems.
    • Translating business requirements into UI elements (initial wireframe to pixel perfect design) which are ready for coding.
    • Support the entire product lifecycle.
    • Participating in customer UX design workshops.
    • Participating in daily stand-ups.

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years of professional UI/UX design experience.
    • Experience with HTML 5, Sass, and CSS experience.
    • Understanding of JavaScript.
    • Experience with prototyping and design tools (Adobe XD, Photoshop, Balsamiq, etc.)
    • Experience with web design and mobile design.
    • Experience with testing.
    • Customer-facing experience.
    • Understanding technical capabilities of products.
    • Direct experience working in an Agile environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Good eye for aesthetics and be very precise.
    • Experience working in a software development company.
    • Strong understanding of mobile platforms, particularly iOS and Android.
    • Certifications in interaction design are a bonus.

    Additional Information

    Working conditions/Environment:

    • May be required to work beyond office hours as required by the needs of the department and this position as well as the needs of the organization.
    • This position is located in Durbanville, Cape Town. Working hours are flexible but a minimum of 8 hours work per day is required.
    • Some team members are located internationally and ability to effectively communicate and manage through technology platforms like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom is required.
    • Small amount of Travel may be required.
    • Ability to attend and conduct presentations is required.
    • Manual dexterity required to use laptop, iPad and peripherals.
