Knockri is on a mission to diminish unconscious bias in hiring with our behavioural skills assessment. Using Machine Learning, we evaluate the transcripts of structured behavioural interviews to identify and classify relevant behaviours that predict non-technical skills and job performance. We work with Fortune 500s including Shopify and IBM to adapt our system around their brand, business competencies, and job requirements. Our assessment helps shortlist job candidates at the top of the hiring funnel, providing fairness and equality across all applicants, and dramatically improving hiring efficiency while eliminating the human bias in employee selection.  

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to provide technical leadership and ownership across our backend. Working with our Product and Science Teams, you will help lead the implementation of complex server-side features, projects, and data pipelines encompassing the work of a small team of backend engineers. You will establish coding best practices and help lay the groundwork for a strong engineering culture within the company. 

What you will work on 

• Own the scoping and architecture of backend web services - leading a team of two intermediate backend engineers in development 
• Own the architecture, design, development, and operation of our new assessment scoring pipeline 
• Transition proof-of-concept data processing techniques into mission critical systems 
• Maintain our existing backend infrastructure hosted on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Functions and VMs

Who you are 

• 4+ years of experience as a backend developer working primarily with Python and Django 
• Experience managing applications and systems using modern infrastructure tooling in a containerized cloud environment 
• Meticulous about testing and verifying your work 
• Driven to make a positive impact on the world through your work 
• A self-starter but are very comfortable collaborating with others
