Job Description

Responsible for analyzing homecare medical records to ensure supporting billing documentation is in place, certification periods are met and clinical documentation within industry guidelines and Medicare requirements; reviews documentation and applies appropriate code for billing; obtains insurance verification and prior authorizations; monitors and works daily billing errors and A/R; participates in the creation and implementation of standard work for daily, weekly and monthly document verification and chart audits. Also functions as a backup for front office team, assisting with nurse scheduling, answering phones, referral intake and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What is required...

  • Minimum of 3 years’ medical billing experience with commercial insurance and Medicare/Medicaid
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of patient account billing
  • Certified coder or obtains certification within 1 year of employment

What is preferred...

 

  • AA or Bachelor’s Degree
  •  Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a medical records environment
  • Experience in home health and hospice coding and billing

Additional Information

Wage:  Starting wage is $15.14/hour.  Actual starting wage will be determined based on years of applicable experience. 

FTE:  1.0 = 40 hours/week
