Job Description

KIOXIA America Inc., formerly Toshiba Memory America Inc., is looking for a patent attorney with semiconductor and storage experienceAs a member of the intellectual property team, this attorney will work on a broad range of IP-related matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of our products to support in all IP matters, including patent prosecution, litigation and licensing matters. 
  • Provide counsel to stakeholders and/or other IP team members related to intellectual property, including those located in United States and Japan.
  • Evaluate third party products against our patents.
  • Evaluate the validity of third party patents and potential infringement of KAI products of valid third party patents.
  • Review and draft corporate legal documents, with a focus on IP-related provisions.
  • Train and educate company employees on relevant laws and regulations.
  • Complete various IP projects assigned by the Managing Counsel in a timely and effective manner. 
  • Assist in all other IP related matters as necessary, including data privacy matters.
  • Assist in other company-related legal matters as necessary.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of diverse IP experience with a large law firm.  In-house experience a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in semiconductor and/or storage technology.
  • A law degree from a top law school and certified to practice in the State of California (for the patent attorney role).
  • Certified to practice before the USPTO.
  • A strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills, who leverages a strong work ethic to efficiently manage and execute projects to completion meeting deadlines.
  • A team player who can form and maintain strong working relationships with other employees and partners.
  • A strong communicator with a service-oriented mindset that can thrive as self-motivated individual and as a team player who can be an asset to any group.
  • Some travel required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering strongly preferred.
