Job Description
As a Wood Shop Technician, you will support Assembly Technicians in the boat building process by ensuring flooring and carpet are installed as needed, while also maintaining the wood shop equipment.
- Cutting wood floors and panels.
- Wrapping parts and floors with carpet or vinyl.
- Cutting hull carpet kits.
- Installing hull carpet and floors.
- Troubleshoot flooring fit
- Development of wood floor templates.
- Follow all applicable KingFisher Boats and WorkSafeBC Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
Qualifications
- On the job training is provided;
- Ability to read a measuring tape;
- Ability to complete tasks of a physically demanding nature;
- High attention to detail is required in order to achieve quality standards;
- Carpentry experience is an asset.
- Understanding and ability to maintain a safe work environment;
- Ability to work independently or with others to achieve a common goal;
- Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter – follow direction with minimal supervision;
- Willing and open to learn each day;
- Show pride in work on a daily basis;
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills;
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced work environment.
Additional Information
- This is an entry level position with opportunities to move up into an Assembly Technician role as they become available.
- Candidates must be available for either the day shift (Monday-Friday, 5 am - 1:30 pm) or afternoon shift (Monday-Thursday, 1 pm - 11:30 pm).
- Regular periods during which there is continuous physical effort is required, e.g., walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
- Exposure to factors such as temperature variations/extremes, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, toxic materials which may cause periods of discomfort, high noise levels.
- Frequent need to give concentrated attention, either hearing or seeing to work being performed.
- Noticeable pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands exists.
