Job Description
We are seeking a Junior Project Planner to join our team based in Carrick-on-Shannon.
You will support the development and maintenance of construction project schedules across King & Moffatt projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their planning career to gain hands-on experience and grow their skills with guidance from senior teams.
You’ll work closely with project personnel from the early stages, helping to create practical schedules that evolve into fully resource-loaded, baselined programmes aligned with key milestones. As you develop, you’ll take on more responsibility for look-ahead planning, progress reporting, and programme analysis.
Over time, you’ll work towards owning key outputs such as project schedules, reports, and dashboards, with full mentoring and support provided.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in creating and maintaining project schedules using Primavera P6, VISTA, or MS Project.
- Support development of schedule templates and model programmes for all project stages.
- Help populate schedules with durations, milestones, constraints, and (over time) resource loading.
- Gather progress updates from site teams, design teams, and subcontractors.
- Assist with weekly progress reporting and preparation of dashboards.
- Support integration of trade contractor programmes into the overall schedule.
- Learn and apply best practices in planning, reporting, and project controls.
- Contribute to change management processes and impact assessments as experience grows.
- Maintain accurate programme records and trend data.
- Provide support to senior planners, project managers, and operations teams as required.
Qualifications
- Strong aptitude for planning, reporting, and programme analysis
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Clear communication and ability to engage with stakeholders
- Highly organised with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Desirable:
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
- Exposure to construction or engineering projects (including placements)
- Familiarity with planning software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6)
- Understanding of Mechanical & Electrical building services (advantageous)
