Job Description

The Junior Content Writer is responsible for producing English-language content across multiple platforms for our partner universities.

 

They collaborate closely with the Content and Marketing functions to develop and produce written content pieces and marketing collateral that abide by editorial standards, utilise SEO best practices, and support the desired creative and messaging strategy to drive website traffic and rankings, increase follower count, and help consumers find the products that fit their unique needs. 

 

The role requires someone with:

  • Strong copywriting, editing, and research skills
  • The ability to meet tight deadlines and quickly grasp new concepts
  • Great communication and collaboration skills
  • An eye for detail, creativity, and SEO

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop, write, and edit content for different platforms and purposes, including but not limited to, websites, brochures, SEO-driven blog articles, social media, paid media ads, and EDM marketing
  • Conduct the appropriate topic research prior to producing written content
  • Conduct keyword research to produce SEO-friendly content
  • Improve and update content during content audits or as needed
  • Stay up to date on the relevant news items, and industry and marketing trends
  • Reflect each partner university’s distinct voice and branding across written content, and ensure brand guidelines are heeded
  • Have a solid understanding of product USPs and target audiences
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of Content and Marketing managers and specialists to deliver excellent copy that supports the creative and messaging strategy  
  • Other duties as required

 

 

Qualifications

Experience

  • 2+ years’ professional experience in any of the following areas:
    • Copywriting
    • Editing/Proofreading
    • SEO content production and optimisation

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Creative Writing, Literature, or a related field (favourable)
  • Prior experience with high-traffic websites (favourable)
  • An understanding of the higher education sector (favourable)

 

Skills & Knowledge 

  • Highly proficient in the English language; proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese a plus 
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and research skills
  • Familiarity with editorial style guides and brand guidelines
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Google Docs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, agile, curious, strategic, and a team player
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and meet tight deadlines
