Job Description

Starting pay of $17 per hour.

As a Visitor Services Specialist you will:

 

  • Ensure the highest quality of sales and customer service at the Ticket Desk and Gift Shop. 
  • Enter transactions accurately into the sales system.
  • Report to work in a timely manner and successfully manage timed tasks. Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned workspaces. 
  • Perform all daily opening and closing operations such as safe counts, report verification, and locking/unlocking doors.
  • Be the initial department contact for elevated customer concerns during shifts, such as sale refunds.
  • Ensure the team acts a central information point for all operations, including but not limited to all programs, exhibits, theater films, marketing, membership, special events, and any other event related to Kentucky Science Center.
  • Maintain proficiency in membership policies and procedures, such as sales, data entry, and quality checks.
  • Assist VS Coordinators with informing and training all VS Representatives on relevant information and processes.
  • Ensure team members follow all procedures and processes accurately and efficiently.
  • Communicate payment policies and procedures with internal and external customers; follow up and process payments.
  • Assist with phone sales, verifying payments, and past due balances.
  • Work with other departments to manage rollovers and cancellations for existing reservations.
  • Act with tact, diplomacy, and glowing attitude when dealing with internal and external customers.
  • Strive to give accurate information 100% of the time.
  • Keep VS management team informed of all staff and guest requests, comments, and concerns.
  • Work with VS management team to successfully facilitate new hire onboarding. 
  • Effectively market Kentucky Science Center products and programs to the public.
  • Communicate and work as a team with co-workers and/or volunteers to ensure smooth operation.
  • Provide on call coverage for floor staff and troubleshooting of POS.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule that can accommodate Kentucky Science Center normal operating hours

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Must be available to work at Kentucky Science Center for normal business hours, 9am-5pm, Saturday through Wednesday.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to two years cash handling and supervisory experience required. Retail experience preferred.
  • Experience in an office environment, including answering the phones and data entry.
  • A working knowledge of Point-of-Sale systems and standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to a positive visitor experience.
  • Able to work efficiently without direct supervision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule: we are a seven day a week operation.
  • Problem and puzzle solving skills in both physical and electronic formats.
  • A team player with high emotional intelligence.
  • A love for continuous learning and growth.
