English Teacher
- Full-time
Company Description
Best at your school?
Find a better school.
At Kairos, we believe now is the opportune moment (the kairos) to reimagine education for the 21st century. Our schools have been recognized by Forbes, Bellwether Education, NBC Today, Education Week, and others as among the most innovative and highest performing in the nation. But while Kairos schools serve all children, the Kairos Team is not for everyone. We're fast paced and have unusually high expectations. If that sounds too stressful, no hard feelings. But if it sounds fun, if you want to be part of a scrappy startup that's transforming public education in this country...well, let's talk.
Job Description
TL;DR
Do you give a #$&! about an Oxford comma? Does it drive you nuts when people use
multiple en-dashes instead of an em-dash? Good. Come transmit your pedantry (and
ethereal love of literature, poetry, etc.) to the future of human civilization. Teach children
how to write and, by extension, how to think.
P.S. Would love your thoughts on Stephen Fry's language rant.
We strongly prefer bright and hungry to learn over experienced but complacent.
Responsibilities
This is a super brief outline, intended to be neither comprehensive nor binding. Kairos is
always evolving, so our roles do too. In this role, you'd report directly into one of our
learning directors and...
● lesson plan aligned to Summit Learning unit outlines
● teach ~4 classes of ~20 students
● leverage and teach Vocabulary.com and IXL for vocabulary and grammar
● all the usual responsibilities of an English teacher
