Associate Director - Payroll Compliance
- Full-time
Job Description
About the Team
You will join a high-performing Data Analytics team focused on wage and payroll compliance across a diverse client base. The team combines deep technical expertise with strong industrial relations and legal knowledge to help organisations identify, assess, and remediate wage compliance risks.
Working alongside data specialists, legal experts, and business advisors, the team plays a critical role in supporting fair and compliant workplace practices across Australia. The environment is collaborative, purpose-driven, and focused on delivering high-impact outcomes for clients and their employees.
Your Opportunity
As a Data Analytics Associate Director specialising in wage and payroll compliance, you will lead complex engagements to help clients identify and remediate breaches relating to Enterprise Agreements, Modern Awards, National Employment Standards, and long service leave legislation.
This is a purpose-driven role where your work directly contributes to fair and equitable outcomes for employees. Wage compliance is not just about data, it is about ensuring individuals receive their correct entitlements while supporting organisations to build trust and integrity in their practices.
You will leverage your expertise in business analysis, data investigation, and advanced analytics to identify, investigate, quantify, and report on wage underpayment matters. Working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams, you will guide solution design, uncover root causes, and support sustainable remediation outcomes.

We are looking for individuals who demonstrate:

• Attention to detail, strong focus on accuracy and quality in high-risk and sensitive engagements
• Stakeholder communication, ability to clearly explain technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the technical design and development of data models using SQL, Alteryx, or Excel to identify and quantify wage compliance risks
• Translate complex industrial relations and legislative requirements into clear technical specifications for analysis
• Work with subject matter specialists to define business requirements, resolve ambiguity, and identify relevant data sources
• Engage with clients to identify root causes of wage compliance issues and support remediation planning
• Assess data quality, validate datasets, and determine impacted employee cohorts
• Oversee testing processes, conduct root cause analysis, and assess potential fixes
• Review and prepare working papers, reports, and methodologies to support analysis outcomes
• Support proposal development and contribute to broader business development initiatives
• Drive the development of internal data analytics tools, frameworks, and reusable assets
• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to team members
Experience
• Extensive experience analysing large and complex payroll and time and attendance datasets to identify and quantify wage compliance issues
• At least 8 years of experience developing data models using SQL, Alteryx, or Excel
• Proven track record of leading teams of data analysts, including task allocation, methodology design, and quality review
• Strong capability in translating complex business and legal requirements into technical specifications and analytical approaches
• Experience preparing reports and methodologies for presentation to senior stakeholders, regulators, or legal representatives
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and timelines
• Experience in a professional services environment is preferred
