Manager - Transaction Services

KPMG’s Transaction Services team supports premier clients across a range of industries with strategic and financial due diligence to help clients assess, plan, evaluate and manage acquisitions, mergers, divestments and initial and secondary debt and equity offerings and beyond.

Our team collaborates closely with colleagues across Deal Advisory & Infrastructure as well as other Advisory teams, Tax and Audit; it is a multi-disciplinary and international environment that sits right at the heart of our one KPMG ethos.

Our team delivers at various stages of the transaction lifecycle including:

  • Pre-deal evaluations and initial assessment of potential targets.
  • Financial due diligence to uncover key issues of potential targets.
  • Vendor assistance and vendor due diligence offerings for sell-side clients.
  • Capital market and regulatory reporting.
  • Pre-deal carve-outs of businesses for spin-off or sale, including development of new corporate structures; and
  • Assisting clients in understanding the true strategic and operational capability of acquisitions and divestments via our integrated risk and value creation diligence.

Your Opportunity

Our Transaction Services team in Melbourne is growing. In this role, as Manager, you will play a key part in the team by:

  • Leading the day-to-day engagement execution of the deal lifecycle. From pre-announcement to implementation including deal strategy, synergy identification and assessment, and carve-out support.
  • Understanding underlying drivers arising from the analysis and interrogation of data, as well as identifying key issues, strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities in both historical and forecast information/business plans.
  • Taking responsibility for focused and efficient ‘advice based’ reporting to the client both in writing and orally, applying sector/ industry knowledge to ensure that analysis is focused, and findings have the appropriate context.
  • Delivering our enhanced risk and value focused diligence (“Diligence+”) which provides our clients a clear, holistic assessment of an asset including quantification of potential upside opportunities; and
  • Contributing to business development efforts by developing pitches and proposals for clients and thought leadership.

Your Experience

  • Recent professional experience in Big 4 / independent corporate advisory, accounting or law firms, investment banking, or within commercial teams in operational businesses.
  • Applicable experiences working across transactions or relevant skills and an interest that will transition into these areas.
  • Strong analytical skills and a commercial flair to generate insights from interpreting data & financial models as well as data analytics.
  • Proven ability to prepare client deliverables, with excellent written and presentation skills.
  • Evidence of working successfully with senior management teams/stakeholders.
  • The initiative to lead projects, clients, and the development of a team.
  • Strong all-round business understanding including the Transaction and M&A environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, Law, or other relevant subjects. Ideally with a post-graduate qualification (e.g., CA, CPA, CFA).
