Job Description

Job Duties:

The Project Engineer will provide professional structural engineering services related to analysis and design projects for buildings and other structures as well as retrofitting. Duties include:

  • Participate in the structural design and detailing of building projects which include academic, commercial, healthcare, and housing projects in both the private and public markets.
  • Create structural analysis models using the ETABS or RISA-3D software to determine gravity and seismic demands.
  • Prepare structural calculations to support structural design and analysis.
  • Interface with internal managers and staff on structural engineering and related issues.
  • Generate construction details and markups using Bluebeam to assemble contract documents.
  • Coordinate structural work with BIM/REVIT modelers.
  • Attend meetings and coordinate documents with architects during the design phase to ensure structural requirements to achieve architectural design intents are met.
  • Perform site visits and write field reports to document observations and ensure construction conforms with the design intent
  • Coordinate with contractors and architects during construction administration as needed to respond to Request For Informations and Submittals.

This is a hybrid position within commuting distance of San Francisco, CA office (71 Stevenson, 18th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105). WFH permitted 1 day per week. Domestic travel, mostly regional, to client sites as needed – up to 10% of time.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements: 

A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related technical field.

Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related technical field, and 2 years of experience as a civil or structural engineer, is accepted.

Knowledge of the following, through post-secondary coursework or employment experience, is also required:

  • Dynamic analysis
  • Finite element analysis
  • ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000 and RISA-3D
  • Design of concrete (including pre-stressed and post-tensioned), steel, and wood structures
  • Advanced material design curriculum for structural steel and reinforced concrete
  • Preparation of construction documents and specifications

Additional Information

Salary:

$116,000 to $125,000 per year.
