We are seeking a skilled and motivated Full Stack Software Engineer with strong frontend development expertise in React and hands-on backend experience with NestJS. This role will be part of a core engineering team building scalable, secure, and user-friendly applications in the HealthTech industry.

The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of modern web development, enjoys building intuitive user interfaces, and is comfortable developing and integrating backend services. You will work with a modern technology stack that includes React, TypeScript, NestJS, and Medplum, contributing to the development of healthcare solutions that improve clinical workflows and user experiences.
 

Responsibilities:

      Frontend Development

• Design, develop, and maintain responsive, scalable, and reusable user interface components using React and TypeScript.

• Build intuitive and high-performance web applications following modern frontend development practices.

• Collaborate with UI/UX designers.

• Integrate frontend applications with backend services and APIs, ensuring reliable data exchange and seamless user experiences.

• Optimize frontend performance, maintainability, and responsiveness across different devices and browsers.

      Backend Development & Integration

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using NestJS, Node.js, and TypeScript.

• Implement business logic, data validation, authentication, and authorization mechanisms to support application requirements.

• Integrate frontend and backend components with the Medplum healthcare platform, working with FHIR-based healthcare resources.

• Collaborate with other engineers to design scalable backend architectures and ensure reliable application performance.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across frontend and backend components.

      Quality & Engineering Practices

• Write clean, maintainable, testable, and well-documented code following established engineering standards.

• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure application reliability and code quality.

• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and contributing to continuous improvement.

• Apply application security best practices, particularly when handling sensitive healthcare information and supporting HIPAA compliance requirements.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Owners, designers, QA engineers, and other developers, to deliver high-quality solutions.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on frontend development and hands-on backend experience.

• Strong proficiency in React, including functional components, Hooks, state management, component architecture, and reusable UI development.

• Solid experience with JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.

• Hands-on experience developing backend applications and RESTful APIs using NestJS and Node.js.

• Experience integrating frontend applications with backend APIs and external services.

• Understanding of authentication, authorization, API security, and modern web application architecture.

• Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases and basic data modeling concepts.

• Experience with Git, version control workflows, and collaborative development practices.

• Understanding of software testing principles, debugging, and troubleshooting.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional engineering teams.

• Experience working in Agile development environments.

Preferred

• Experience developing mobile applications using React Native.

• Familiarity with Medplum, FHIR standards, or healthcare data interoperability.

• Experience with Tailwind CSS or similar modern styling frameworks.

• Knowledge of healthcare application security, patient data privacy, and HIPAA compliance.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.

• Experience with frontend and backend testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, or Cypress.

• Previous experience developing applications in the healthcare or HealthTech industry.
