The BI Test Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our business intelligence solutions. This role involves in-depth testing of data transformations, data warehousing processes, and reporting functionalities, with a strong emphasis on SQL, Excel, and data analysis. The BI Test Engineer will work independently within a collaborative Agile team, contributing to all phases of the testing lifecycle and reporting to the QA Lead.

Responsibilities:

• Create, maintain, and execute comprehensive test cases for functional, system, and integration testing of BI solutions.

• Document and summarize test results, effectively reporting findings and discrepancies as defects with detailed information.

• Develop and apply black box, positive, and negative test scenarios based on requirements and technical specifications.

• Participate in requirement reviews, providing valuable feedback to Business Analysts to identify and resolve gaps.

• Design and execute complex SQL queries to validate data integrity and transformations within the data warehouse.

• Utilize advanced Excel skills for data analysis and testing purposes.

• Contribute to the design and execution of end-to-end tests in on-premise or cloud environments (e.g., GCP, Azure, AWS).

• Manage individual deliverables to meet project deadlines and effectively communicate test status to the Test Lead and management.

• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with cross-functional teams.

• Actively participate in test case reviews, providing and incorporating feedback to enhance test coverage.

• Utilize JIRA or similar tools for requirements management, test case management, execution, and defect tracking.

• Minimum 3 years of QA experience, with a strong focus on BI testing and data analysis.

• Proficiency in developing complex SQL queries and a strong understanding of relational databases.

• Advanced knowledge of Excel for data manipulation, analysis, and testing.

• Solid understanding of the software development life cycle and Agile methodologies.

• Exceptional troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

• Ability to logically analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into clear test cases.

• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with good interpersonal and customer relations skills.

• Experience testing data changes within data warehouses using SQL and Excel.

• Familiarity with middleware applications (e.g., GIS middleware, Informatica, Apigee or similar tools) is a plus.

• Experience with JIRA or similar requirement/test management tools.

• B.S. in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• (Preferred) Knowledge of Test Automation.

• (Preferred) Experience working with Salesforce - CRM.

Location: Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico (working from home - office won't be mandatory all the time, rather it will required from time to time).
