Job Description

The Opportunity

The Recruitment and Community Coordinator (RCC) is responsible for outreach, community engagement, and implementing an annual student recruitment plan that aligns with our region’s student recruitment goals.  This individual will work towards moving families in Austin through lead acquisition all the way to offer acceptance in the enrollment cycle. This individual will be expected to spend 80% of their time focused on application acquisition efforts. To be successful in this role, a RCC brings a track record for implementing successful recruitment strategies by using diverse in-field tactics, building relationships with neighborhood partners, and meeting weekly targets. A RCC should be comfortable working in an environment that requires you to juggle multiple priorities and competing deadlines, while never losing sight of the overarching goals and desired outcomes.  A RCC must be available to work flexible hours, including some nights, weekends, and holidays

Key Responsibilities

Application Acquisition Efforts 

  • Responsible for contributing to an overall application goal for the region through participation in recruitment activities.

  • Prepares for and executes recruitment activities which may include: phone banking, block walking, converting leads, tabling, and participating in community events across the entire region 

  • Effectively pitches KIPP Texas as a school option to prospective families in the field to meet the application goal set for the intended recruitment activity 

  • Maintains weekly field plans on an ongoing basis to track recruitment investments, outcomes, and returns on investment

  • Orients volunteers during recruitment activities to accomplish assigned functions

  • Calls and texts leads collected in the field or marketing leads assigned to them via our CRM system, HubSpot

  • Meets lead conversion and offer acceptance targets by following up with new leads and families in offered status (post-lottery) on time and documenting all relevant outreach 

  • Supports the Student Recruitment Manager in making offer calls as needed during high peak time post-lottery 

Awareness and Nurture Strategy 

  • Drops off collateral and relevant marketing materials to businesses, daycare partners, apartment complexes, nonprofits, etc. to build awareness of our academic offerings

  • Nurtures applicants immediately after applying by giving them a call or texting them to serve as their enrollment point of contact 

  • Fields incoming calls and texts from the region to answer any questions prospective families might have about KIPP Texas 

Administrative Tasks 

  • Joins weekly check-ins with manager to get ongoing direction, feedback, and coaching 

  • Participates in quarterly meetings and monthly professional development opportunities 

  • Fields recruitment-related inquiries from School Leaders and Operations Team leaders 

  • Tackles inquiries from prospective families via the regional recruitment inbox 

  • Executes daily SchoolMint actions, which include applying priority validations, removing duplicate and current student applications, and updating unconfirmed addresses or phone numbers

School Collaboration 

  • Observes school tours and information sessions to learn more about school offerings across the region 

  • Participates in key school activities such as report card nights, fall events, New-to-KIPP welcome events, etc. to collect potential applications, leads, or referrals 

Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications: 

*Spanish Speaking and writing skills required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and / or 4 years or similar experience

  • Job-related experience with recruitment-related work preferable in a business, nonprofit, education, community engagement or advocacy organization

  • Strong cultural competency skills, including the ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse population

  • Strong planning and project management skills, with an ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an energetic attitude; ability to successfully engage, cultivate, and steward relationships with community members and organizational partners effectively and quickly build rapport 

  • Excellent English and Spanish written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail 

  • Highly motivated and self-starter / self-directed learner with a “whatever it takes” attitude to work independently and as a team player

  • Unquestioned integrity and commitment to the KIPP Texas mission and community

  • Service-oriented, able to adapt to a changing environment while applying flexibility to work under pressure and remaining calm in the midst of competing demands 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Google applications (Sheets, Docs, Google Drive), with the ability to quickly learn new technologies (SchoolMint, Slack, video conferencing apps, etc.)  

  • Must have reliable transportation to travel between campuses and to and from community events/meetings
