Company Description
About KIPP NYC:
Founded in 1995, KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of 18 free, public charter schools located in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. We partner with families and communities to create joyful, academically excellent schools where every child grows up free to create the future they want for themselves and their communities.
From our first middle school, KIPP Academy in the Bronx, to today’s network of eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, and one high school, KIPP NYC provides students with engaging academics, arts, athletics, and social–emotional learning that prepare them for college, career, and beyond.
Our commitment doesn’t end at graduation. Through KIPP Forward, we continue to support our alumni as they navigate college, career, and life, helping them define success on their own terms and pursue the paths that align with their goals and sense of purpose.
Together, we serve more than 9,400 students, support 4,700 alumni, and employ over 1,100 dedicated team members who bring passion, expertise, and commitment to our mission every day.
About KIPP Forward Postsecondary Success Collaborative
KIPP Forward works with graduates of KIPP, Achievement First, and other select high school-serving organizations to empower them for success in college and their careers. Our program model was formulated utilizing a design thinking approach with our alumni, as well as research on the most effective Comprehensive Approach to Student Success (CASS) and career readiness programs. Utilizing breakthrough college and career strategies, we aim to:
- Help more students from low-income families persist in and graduate from college or secure a credential in an in-demand industry
- Help all – those with a BA or a credential – transition to a strong first job and improve pathways to economic mobility
About our Nudge Enabled Remote Advising (NERA) Program
The Collaborative supports students for six years following high school graduation. In the first two years, students are paired with a near-peer College Success Fellow or a Workforce Advisor who provides intensive, in-person advising. Beginning in year three, students transition into our NERA program, a tech-enabled model of continued postsecondary support. Through NERA, experienced Advisors use nudge-texting technology to deliver timely guidance and resources related to postsecondary pathway persistence factors such as: academic progress, financial aid, social-emotional well-being, and career readiness, exposure and search process. Alumni can also schedule one-on-one advising sessions as needed, ensuring personalized support continues throughout their postsecondary journey.
